Throughout our lives, we all have core memories that help shape the person we have become. Even as you read that, dozens of core memories flood to the forefront of your mind, demanding your attention.
One of my most recent defining memories happened almost immediately after I awoke on Monday, August 10, 2015.
Previously, I was happily working for Zirtual for nearly a year. As a Zirtual Assistant, I was met with new challenges each day. Each challenge required complex thinking and problem solving to ensure my clients could focus their energy on scaling business and Executive level issues.
That morning of August 10, 2015, I was blissfully laying in bed with my 17th month old son watching his favorite movie (The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh) when a co-worker pinged me asking if I had seen “the email“. As I read the third paragraph, a sense of dread, shock and fear washed over me.
I had two options:
- Let the change defeat me
- Let the change define me
By choosing to let this blind-sided change define me, I have truly blossomed into my own definition of what it means to be a work-at-home mom.
As an entrepreneur, I had approximately 4 hours to come up with a business strategy, plan and brand.
Over the past 6 months, I have worked diligently to ensure my clients and I have a strategic alignment, both in working style and ethics – as a result I have found the perfect work-life balance to having a fulfilling career while giving my son a fulfilling toddler-hood full of play dates and daily, stimulating activities.
